Third Place Books is a Seattle-area book store that does a fabulous job of bringing national and local authors into the store to do readings. A few times a year they dedicate a budget to produce a special limited edition letterpress printed broadside for these events.
The broadside shown here is to commemorate author David Mitchell's April 2006 reading of Black Swan Green. The wood type letterforms in the word "Mine" were scanned from proofs I took of wood type at the School of Visual Concept's letterpress shop, then combined with images and text composed on the computer. The final print was printed on Magnani Pescia (an Italian cotton paper) from photopolymer plates on SVC's Vandercook SP-15 press.
